The Gitany
The Gitany are rootless nomadic wanderers who roam Komaru and the surrounding countryside. They are said to have been born from the waves of the sea, and claim that they flow through the world like water through a river. They never accepted the teachings of the Church of Inner Light, preferring instead their own opaque religion. They are said to practice the dark arts forbidden since Paraceln changed the world, and are known to steal valuables and even children from the manors they visit. Because of their unsavory practices, the Church hounds them. On the other hand, the Yuasa are known to emulate their flexibility, and many Sone are said to associate with Gitany because of the scandal it causes. The silent Touraine are often accused of seeking to learn the Gitany's magics.
The Veiled Guard
The Veiled Guard has been a constant in the Royal Palace since before Paraceln's vision. When a mob of angry rioters stormed the Palace after Valentin's crackdown on the Church, the nobles within the palace generally believed that the enigmatic soldiers in gleaming armor and dark cloaks would protect them. They did not, and Valentin died the next day. Since the execution, the Veiled Guard has remained within the Palace, silently fulfilling their unknown duty. Some say that Alessandro will soon cast them from the palace. Others say that Alessandro survived the rioting because the Veiled Guard secretly escorted him to safety.
